Breakfast With Santa

On the first Saturday in December the Valparaiso YMCA hosts
Breakfast with Santa and the Northwest Indiana Parrothead Club
aids them by providing the Helpers. The event is no small task as
the Y sells about 150 tickets and around 100 of them are for
children. Our many volunteers make this event something they will
all remember.

This has become one of my favorite ways of getting the Christmas
Spirit. The children get excited about seeing Santa who gives each
of them a gift bag and the option of having a photo taken, creating
an ornament, playing Christmas Bingo, joining in a cake/cookie
walk, and having a nutritious breakfast of pancakes, sausage,
eggs, and orange juice or milk.

Bill Stockey truly is Santa Clause. He is so patient with the
children and interacts with each one individually. The kitchen Elves
have mastered the art of making pancakes and eggs to keep the
hot food coming and the serving pans full. Our servers, craft aids,
bingo caller, cake walk organizer, photo assistant, and set up/clean
up crew jump right in to ensure all the little parakeets are having a
good time.

Thank you to many club members who came out early on a cold
Saturday morning to promote our club, help the local YMCA, put a
smile on the face of all those kids and have phun doing it.
